Advent, the season of anticipation and preparation for the birth of Jesus Christ, is celebrated in various ways around the world. One common tradition is the Advent wreath, a circular arrangement of evergreen branches with four candles. Each week leading up to Christmas, a candle is lit, symbolizing the growing light of Christ. In some homes, a fifth candle, known as the Christ candle, is placed in the center and lit on Christmas Eve.

In the Philippines, the Simbang Gabi, a series of nine masses held before dawn, is a beloved tradition.
