Photorealistic images and illustrations of baptism, featuring diverse pastors, families of every configuration, and multiracial, multigenerational congregations that include disabled worshipers.
Search for baptism photos and you’ll find the same picture over and over: one family, one kind of family, and a congregation that looks nothing like the room you actually gather in on Sunday morning. If your church has spent years saying that everyone belongs here, projecting an image that quietly says otherwise undercuts the work.
This set was built the other way around. The pastors presiding are of different races, genders, and ages. The families gathered at the font are two mothers, two fathers, single parents, grandparents raising grandchildren, adoptive and foster families, and blended households — pictured without comment, because a family at a baptism does not need explaining. The congregations behind them are multiracial and multigenerational throughout the frame, not with one person placed at the edge for balance.
Several images include wheelchair users among the gathered congregation — present as worshipers, not as subjects. Church stock photography almost never does this, which leaves congregations doing real accessibility work illustrating it with images that erase the very people they’ve worked to welcome. If your building has a ramp to the chancel and a reserved space near the font, your baptism slide should show the same congregation.
The set includes both photorealistic images and illustrations rendered in several art styles, so you can match the look of your existing worship media rather than working around it. Use the photographic images for slides, livestream frames, and social announcements. Use the illustrated styles for bulletins, children’s ministry handouts, banners, and Sunday School curriculum, where a drawn image often lands better with younger kids than a photograph of someone else’s family.
Most mainline congregations concentrate baptisms on a handful of days: the Baptism of the Lord, the Easter Vigil, Pentecost, and All Saints. These images are made for those services and for the ordinary Sundays in between — announcing an upcoming baptism, welcoming a new member of the body of Christ, marking a reaffirmation of baptismal vows, or illustrating a sermon on covenant and belonging.
The theology in these images is the one your tradition already teaches. Baptism is God’s claim on a person and the community’s promise to keep showing up — a naming, a welcome, an incorporation into a body that has agreed to be responsible for one another. Nothing in this set frames baptism as a transaction, a purification, or a condition of belonging. The water is a sign of grace already given.
