Where the Wind Leads — Lent Worship Backgrounds

Description

Not every screen in worship needs motion. The background behind a prayer of confession, the slide that sits up while people find their seats, the banner on your website for the season: these are the places a congregation lives with Lent from week to week. This set gives all of them the same image.

Where the Wind Leads begins where Lent begins, with the Spirit leading Jesus into the wilderness (Luke 4:1; Mark 1:12). The word for spirit in Hebrew and Greek also means wind. Jesus appears as a first-century Galilean Jewish man, with olive-brown skin and dark curly hair, his fringed mantle streaming in a desert wind as he faces a rose-colored moon. The wilderness around him is drawn in fine engraved line work, with color reserved for the figure and the moon.

The set includes seven images: the series title in English and in Spanish, “A donde el viento nos guíe,” Welcome, Bienvenidos, Goodbye, Adiós, and a text-free version of the full scene so you can set your own words in the open sky. Each comes in 16:9 HD at 1920 by 1080, as both PNG and JPG.

This is a Lent of following rather than of shame. There are no crowns of thorns and no images meant to make people feel worse about themselves. There is a wide wilderness, a steady figure, and a wind that goes ahead of him. Nothing carries a date or a lectionary year, so the images serve any Lent.
