Where the Wind Leads — Lent Worship Video Set

Description

Lent begins with Jesus going into the wilderness, and the Gospels are clear about who takes him there. In Luke the Spirit leads him; in Mark the Spirit drives him out (Luke 4:1; Mark 1:12). In both Hebrew and Greek, the word for spirit is also the word for wind. This set starts there, with one figure standing still while the wind moves everything around him.

Where the Wind Leads shows Jesus as a first-century Galilean Jewish man, with olive-brown skin and dark curly hair, wearing a tunic and an outer mantle with knotted fringes at its corners. He stands with his back to the congregation, facing a rose-colored moon over the Judean wilderness, so the people watching stand beside him rather than looking at him. The scene is drawn in fine engraved line work, and color is reserved for the figure and the moon.

Only the wind moves. The mantle rolls in slow, heavy waves, the fringes swing, his hair streams, and dust blows low across the desert floor. The figure himself stays still, which keeps the motion calm enough to sit behind a call to worship, a prayer, or the first quiet moment of a service.

The set includes seven silent videos: a title video in English, a title video in Spanish, Welcome, Bienvenidos, Goodbye, Adiós, and a 10-second countdown to the start of worship. Each comes in HD 1080 and 4K. Because the videos are silent, you can play them under live music or set them to your own.

This is a Lent of following, not of self-punishment. The wilderness here is open country, and the wind is the Spirit that goes ahead of us. Nothing in the artwork carries a date or a lectionary year, so the set serves every week from Ash Wednesday through Holy Week, in any year. The Spanish title reads, “A donde el viento nos guíe.”
